Hello,

I built some maps using spot depths that were taken manually, with lat longs and importing through a csv format. When calculating the areas and volumes, why is the average depth so much different then the average of the manual spot depths? This results in the volume given by reefmaster being significantly different than the estimate given by manual method of multiplying the average of the spot depths and the surface area. I don't know why they would be so much different and which one to trust more. Thank you in advance!

This could be due to a few things. Can you send your map project (.rm2db) file through to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so that I can take a look? Averages calculated by ReefMaster might not be close to a simple average of spot depths x the area depending on how those depths are distributed and how the areas in between are interpolated. Shorelines will also affect the calculation if they are present (and providing depth).
