I am a new user of Waypoint Manager, using it with a Lowrance Hook Reveal. I exported 10 waypoints from my depthfinder and used Waypoint Manager to edit the waypoint names, as well as a few icons. I saved the new file and imported it back into my DF. The import process correctly showed 10 waypoints imported, but none of them are visible in my list of waypoints. The file was both exported and imported as a .usr file, version 6. I opened the new file again in Waypoint Manager, and verified the changes had been saved to the file. I tried repeating the entire process, tried rebooting my DF, and tried a different SD card. None of that helped. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks for your help.

Did you have the same waypoints on your unit before reimporting the modified ones? USR4+ assigns a unique id to each waypoint so will not reimport the same waypoints back - you need to delete existing first. I believe this is the behaviour (rather than updating any existing waypoints on the unit) but will double check.
What I would suggest you do is export everything from your unit to a fresh sd card, delete everything on your unit and then try to import the waypoints you modified in the waypoint manager.

Matt - Thanks for the quick response. I suspect you nailed it. I did NOT delete the existing waypoints, and I actually anticipated ending up with duplicates, then needing to delete the earlier version, if that makes sense.

With no more experience with the Hook Reveal than I have, it's going to be a serious leap of faith to delete all the waypoints after the backup, but it sounds like that's the solution. I might start out with deleting just a couple to see what happens.

I'll try to check it out this evening and post the results. Thanks again for your help.
Whit

+1. Unit is matching old & new as duplicates with UUID.
FYI: Lowrance units containing waypoints will sometimes create duplicates when importing using GPX.

That did it. Thanks very much Matt, it imported perfectly after deleting the originals. Now I know, but I would never have figured that out.

Thanks, Gazoo. I did not know the files had the capability to ID dupes. It's actually interesting because one of the DF tutorials I checked out online talked about the pitfalls of creating dupes when importing from backups. Regardless, it's a great feature to have.
