Hi,

I've been playing with RM for a few days and managed to get some great maps in AT5 format for my Lowrance HDS.
I import my sonar logs to generate the map in Project view.
Export raster.
Export all contour to a User Map.
Import GPX files I created in GlobalMapper. These tracks are creek-beds, submerged roads, etc.
Export all contours from the User Map to ShapeFiles.
Process everything with ICM.

The problem is that these custom tracks show in the User Map but not in the final AT5 map.

Is there a way to do that ?

For now I have to import the GPX file in the HDS unit.

Great app anyway, I will probably buy it after the trial period.

Only a few of the Lowrance units read GPX.

You'll want to convert your GPX to Insight Map Creator aligned shapefiles and then run them together with the shapefile output from Reefmaster through the IMC.

As a simplified example that doesn't require you to format the data, you can also download osm pbf regions from geofabrik (download.geofabrik.de/) or direct extracts from the OSM map (www.openstreetmap.org/#map=5/51.500/-0.100) and run it with the shapefile output from Reefmaster. These run as either OSM XML or OSM PBF binary files.

You can also refer to this topic for a more simplified way of converting your data: reefmaster.com.au/index.php/forum/mappin...ront-end-for-the-imc

Hi Pierre,
Greg's suggestion is the best way to achieve this for now.
We have a big release coming at the end of this month that includes a major overhaul of user-maps. This will allow tracks, as well as user-drawn paths and polygons, to be styled and exported in shapefiles suitable for use by the IMC.

As I understand Pierre, he wants to add vector tracks as shapefiles to his map.

Pierre, did you set the right values for your added shapefiles before processing. You could use QGIS (Quantum Gis - freeware) for that. The shapefiles exported from Golobal Mapper do not contain the expected values. Some advice is in the user manual of IMC for that and you have to create two maps: your usermap from raster as raster-at5 and a second one from shapefiles as a vector-at5.

Hi,

Alternatively give GPSMapedit as go (as Greg says above) if QGIS gives problems, you can simply draw your roads then export them as any one of the defined Navico line types (Navico Road). It sets all the attributes for you.

Its not free - but well worth the small cost, and makes creating AT5 charts dead simple.

This is what I suspected.

I will check the softwares you suggest (QGIS, GPSMapedit).
And also check the IMC documentation because Global Mapper allows to set custom attributes for checkfile.

Thank you,
Pierre

I totally agree with Trevor; this is by far the most easy way to get all kind of objects, including roads, into the final AT5. GPSMapedit (+ Trevor's adjustments for it) are worth to do the effort.

Is there a way to import .shp files (for Reefmaster to build contours out of) rather than
sonar logs?

You can import Shapefiles or Google Earth vector components (from KML/Z files) straight into map projects (v2) or user maps (v1).
