Hey gang,

Yes, another 'pre-mapping' question ;-)

As you'll have likely worked out I am looking to mount my Hook4 and 83/200 to an RC boat for mapping.

I wanted to ask how important it might be to have the transducer mounted right under the head unit?

I'm thinking not that important, give the units mapping accuracy is 1m, but thought I'd check.

In my ideal scenario I'll have the transduce mounted about 30-50cm behind the head unit.

Cheers,
Aaron

30-50 cm? Don't worry about it. :)

You can enter an offset in RM and it works very well as long as the boat is moving. (Not so well when laying still as the offset needs direction from GPS, and that simply does not work when laying still.) But I would not bother to do this with such a small offset.
