I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find the answer in previous posts. How do I lay a path from google earth, or line from GIS, on top of a shaded relief contour map created with Reefmaster? Ive got an awesome map built that shows contours of a creek channel on the inlet side but I would love to have lines on top showing the exact left and right bank of the old creek. Can anyone help?

Do you want the lines as overlay in Reefmaster and combine it while creating your map or do you want it as overlay on your plotter?

Plotter: just convert your line(s) in GPX format and import as tracks / routes in your plotter.

A combination with an already existing at5 map in Reefmaster is not possible.

Either combined with a Reefmaster map or separate, it doesn't matter to me.

Here is a snapshot of a portion of my reefmaster map with the creek channel as a separate KML layer. contours sort of show the creek bottom but an actual outline will help me find the exact edge of the channel. I'd love to have this exact view on my Lowrance. How do I import the blue lines as tracks?

You can do this quite easily using a User Map. The simplest way is probably to create a new UM and export it separately from your existing map, rename the generated .at5 file and copy it to your SD card along with your existing map files.

1. Create a new User Map
2. Open the Edit panel and select the group "Custom Paths".
3. Click the Import Path button and select your KMZ file.
4. Zoom to your imported paths, and choose a line width and colour for them in the edit panel.
5. Export the UM (Write to File, right-click menu), choose the at5 format.

You will end up with a file "large.at5". Rename this (e.g. creek_bed.at5) and copy it to your SD card. You should now get your paths on top of any existing map (the only reason you need to rename this file is because you will probably already have a file called large.at5. You could also put the new large.at5 into a sub-folder, and your unit should still find it and load it).

Wow that was easy. Thanks!! And I'm excited that I can do the same with polygons. I now plan to draw up rock areas and flooded timber. Will make for a great overlay. Thanks again!
