This is probably a dumb question, but please keep in mind that I'm what the techs at my work call "electronically challenged". :D

Can Reefmaster be installed on, and run from, an external harddrive? I understand that the HD has to be connected to a computer for both the installation and when using the program.

The reason for asking is that I use quite a few different PCs and laptops, and they are not always mine either.

ReefMaster license keys are tied to a specific computer, so it is not possible to move an installation around in the way you are suggesting. What you can do is install RM on up to two machines with a single license and, if required, you could install RM on further machines and move a license over as needed. You'd need to deactivate the license on the first machine, and then activate this same license on the second. The license must be deactivated on the second machine before it can be reactivated on the first again.

I think you want to have a portable Version of reefmaster ?!!

As Matt says this doesn't function.

But you can put all your workspaces on an external HD.
So you dont have to copy data from the NOT-Owned computer,
but still have to activate and deactivate

@Matt
was it possible for him to do this licence hopping as you described a lot of times,
whenever he wants to use different PCs,
but let the Installation on the not-owned PCs without the licence Key activated ?
And is there a chance for him,
to change the install DIR onto the external HD.
And then install on every PC he wants to use, RM on the external HD ?
Or are there any Registry Entries which belongs to the actual Version of RM, like 1.0.5...
which might conflict with my idea when updating on PC1, deactivating KEy, starting RM on PC2,
but from the same external HD and activate the Key ?

Luke,
you can move a license around as often as you like - and leave an unactivated installation sitting on a computer. You can then activate it as required. RM keys are good for up to two machines simultaneously.
