We probably won't do a direct port on the IMC simply because of the library support. I use Qt to control my UI so that part of the conversion would not be significant but there's some bits and pieces that would be more difficult as far as program optimizations.
Last Edit: 11 years 11 months ago by gpiverson. Reason: clarification

I am still using DrDepth but think I may have to come over to ReefMaster side pretty soon.
.
As to which OS, I hope that you depreciate XP sooner rather than later ( I still have XP on a net book and as one of the Virtual Machines on the old MacBook ) but XP is holding you back and diluting your efforts to improve and test, and the customers suffer. It does not mean that current customers do not have access to ReefMaster it only means they are stuck in an older version time warp using yesterdays technology and by by staying with XP this long they have already signed up for that.
.
MacOSX: I run all my 'other' operating systems ( XPpro, 7pro, 8.1pro, 10beta, Chrome, Ubantu_Linux ) as virtual machines on a 2008 MacBook. Up until recent versions of OS X and Parallels virtual was too slow to use but with OS X 10.10 and Parallels 10 , the OLD MACBOOK got so fast that I sprung for 750GB drive and upgraded to a of total 8GB Memory and the old MacBook may now last another year+. So if you are a Windows shop you are NOT stopping Mac users from using your product. Virtual is a bit geeky/hackish extra layer of complexity but it is very doable and every year SW&OS gets closer to 'It Just Works', so how bad can it be?
.
thanks for what you do....
This is the first lesson ye should learn: There is so much good in the worst of us, and so much bad in the best of us, it doesn't behoove any of us to speak evil of the rest of us.

I use Windows 7 - 64 with an older Quad-Core and 4 GB Ram. Works pretty fine :)

Pretty sure at this stage that we will be moving to a minimum of Windows 7 for the next major version of ReefMaster, as there are some quite compelling reasons to do so now (graphics capabilities being the main driver, as we move towards using some native graphics capabilities for reasons of performance and flexibility).
Still a little while off, though.
