Hi, I have a Lowrance Elite 7 HDI and have created a map using IMC from an old UK Ordnance Survey to use as a background chart whilst I fish a reservoir. This old map shows the old river bed, mill pools, ponds etc before the valley was flooded.

I am pleased to say that it displays just fine in Reefmaster. However, when I zoom the Elite display to view the background chart layer I lose the contour colours.

The tracks and contour lines still visible over the background but the colour banding for contour layers disappears.

Having spent a lot of time trying many different things I have come to the conclusion that the problem is with the Elite unit/display.

But I wondered if it is possible to fix this issue so I can see the depth colour bands over the background map features.

The first screenshot shows the chart with tracks and colour bands
The second screen shot, zoomed in to display the background map, shos the tracks & contour line but no colour bands for the contours.,

The Elite Series cannot handle transparent maps.

What you want - a transparent / translucent vector map over your raster map is possible only with HDS units.

Looks like I'll start saving my pennies for a HDS unit!
