Hello,

Currently deciding between Humminbird & Simrad (Navico) equipment.

I pulled in sl3 data provided by Navico. Sidescan was fine (see RM_1). When I tried to create a bathymetric map, it didn't work well (RM_1.2). Was the poor rendering of the bathy. map a result of the minimal amount of data? Because I tried with older H-bird data in DAT form. It was quite a bit more data (RM_2). Those data produced RM_3. However, when I tried to only use one of the DAT survey lines, no rendering occurred.

So again, did the Navico sl3 data not work because it was such a small amount of data? If that is the case, Navico's equipment and sl3 data should work just fine, provided more data is recorded and used in Reef Master. Unfortunately, I won't have access to more sl3 until the equipment would be purchased and installed. That's quite a leap without knowing how I'll land.

Any advice is appreciated!

Hi,
The data provided by Navico doesn't have meaningful GPS data (same location throughout the log), so can't be used for mapping.
You are correct in that more data is required before bathymetry can be generated properly and the SL3 format is supported.
