Still having troubles. I have been able to get waypoints with contours as one KMZ file onto my phone. But problem is when I try to open it, Google Earth opens, never zooms in anywhere and then closes and I return to file location on phone.
I searched internet and found previous trouble was the updated 7.1 version of earth. (Every time I opened Earth, it showed a stationary location, often a long ways from my actual location) I uninstalled it and found an earlier 6.2 version which at least now shows my location when I just open app, but cant get map to show at all. It works fine on my pc.
I really want this to work.
Still have not found a way to remove "No_Name" which is listed as the name for all 460+ waypoints:(
Really hoping I can remove that label as it really clutters map.

Why use anything less then the HDS itself ;)



I haven't tried using the waypointexport in GE, but just contours worked fine on my IPad. It does take a 3G-connecting to work, and with a large map it can be a bit unstable.

I've looked into this a bit more and we add the "no_name", but only during import from GPX files. I can change that behaviour and make a maintenance release, but if you removed these names within RM I am intrigued as to how the "no_name" has come back? How are you importing/exporting these waypoints? If you have an RM workspace with waypoints with empty names, you should be able to just export those straight to KML and the name will remain empty.

To use a Lowrance Elite 4 could solve all problems: you have a pretty small sonar with included gps, that can handle waypoints and maps in only one device.

You really need a handheld device as GPS while icefishing for easiest use. A combounit will ofcourse work, but not as easy. Atleast for my variants of ice fishing.

I have to say that I have been impressed with the usability of tablets/phones for casual mapping. No doubt there are still some disadvantages - weather proofing and sunlight-readability are the obvious ones - but the quality of the map display and GPS positioning is generally excellent. My first choice would be a Samsung S4 active, which is waterproof with a very bright screen, and very powerful. Sony do a few fully waterproof Android phones as well. There aren't as many options for waterproof tablets yet, although there are plenty of cases available. I use a Nexus 7 (gen 1) and get great results with that and Google Earth (KML maps) and you can pick one of these up for well under $200.

I agree the best screen option is the HDS, but impractical when you drill as many hole as I do.
Matt, when I imported the waypoints, I had removed names and the "no_name" was added by RM.

ReefMaster does add "no_name" to waypoints without names that are imported from GPX files. I can't actually remember why this is required, so we'll consider removing it if it isn't. If you import from a different file type (eg USR3) then you won't get this behaviour. Are these waypoints on a Lowrance unit? If so, try re-saving them in USR format and importing. Then when you export to KML, you won't get the "no_name". Also, how are you exporting these to Google Earth? Are you importing a gpx file into GE or KML? If you save as KML you will get your waypoints with the RM icons and colours.
When you save your map as KML, you can see the contours on your desktop so the map is OK. How are trying to view this on your phone? You need to open the KML file on the phone, which should launch GE and zoom to the map. An alternative is to email it to your self, open that email on your phone and select "view attachment".

Any chance you could send your workspace file to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - or upload the file to a service such as Google Drive, if it is too big to mail?
I'll see what I can do with the current RM beta. Do you have shorelines defined for that map? The fill area seems odd to me.
