Looks very much like a car to me! Feasible in the location?

The location is quite near the shore on shallow water and they could have been driving on the ice during the winter without checking that ice was thick enough.

Seen some trucks go through before, may be a truck. I'd mark it and hit in this winter. Drop a camera down and take a look plus would say it would hold some fish as well. Nice find.

Sure looks like a car. Size and shadow match.

Hopefully not a old police case ?

I don't think it is a car. Do you have the original image?

Best regards,

Guido

I was there again today with a drop down camera to try to catch some photos but you could only see max 1 meter with the camera so it was really hard. It was a man made structure down there and we but we couldn't get a photo showing that it was a car.

To my suprise the downscan (which I was really sceptical about) gave me a fine picture of the object!

This was one of the pictures we took, doesn't prove much...

The metal thing in the picture is one of the legs for the drop down camera, I borrowed it home to check this object. The downview is a new thing for me but it can really be helpful sometimes!

The camera is an old Canon compact that supports USB tethering. The cable for the camera is 20 meters long and we use an USB extender to handle the cable length and then we use PS Remote to control and take pictures. We can tilt the camera and turn on some led lights over the cable. Canon stopped the support for USB tethering a couple of years ago, so now it is only supported in their DSLR cameras. Nikon DSLR has support for this also.

We have bigger drop down camera on our ship and there we use the Canon G10 (the last compact Canon that supported USB tethering but it has drivers for win 7 at least). That camera is connected to a 700 meters long double armoured wire with one coax in it. We combine power (200 VDC) and VDSL communication on the coax in the topside and split it in power and communication down in the camera cage. We get 30-50 Mbit over the VDSL link and it is quite stable and have 24VDC 200W available at the camera cage. We have a pan&tilt head on that camera, 150W of led lights and one PC in a steel bottle. We use remote desktop to control it. We added sensors to the camera cage this year so now we get salinity, temperature, oxygen saturation and currect speed and direction.

We use this wire for our klein 3000 sonar also.
