Thanks to Dannett for the data, which is commercial survey data at 1m resolution. Initially there was more than 150M data points, but this was thinned to one point per 10x10m area using the latest development version of ReefMaster, resulting in about 1.5M points.

The full map - about 20x20km:

Zoomed in to show some detail. The diagonal line just left of centre is a gas main:

Matt,

I'm really impressed with the result. When I found the data I wasn't really sure if I could ever put it to good use but this has opened a world of opportunity. Thank you for all the hard work.

Dan.

Very nice. I spent a lot of time fishing that water 20 years ago. Some good memories there.

Not sure on how things are to day but it used to be No Run = No Fun. But you need heaps of weight to get baits down if bottom bashing. I used to love the tuna season in the Harbour.

No Run = No Fun seems to still be very much the case. The last two years the tuna haven't been as far up in the harbour as in the past. Though the long tail in my profile picture was caught last August out between Emery Point and 6 mile bouy.

Where are you now?

I'm down in Canberra so I do mostly freshwater fishing with the odd trip to coast for a salt water fix.

I miss the longtails Dan! We used to get some real thumpers in Hervey Bay, they gave you a proper work-out on a light SP stick..

Nice tuna, they do give you a work out. A 5-8kg spin rod and a stradic 5000 with 20lb braid is my weapon of choice for the tuna, queenfish and GTs. I have hooked a few over the metre mark but been unable to stop them. No gear failures just bug runs and pulled hooks.
