Hi Matt,

is it possible to set a fixed Depth-Range for a Projekt, so that all Tracks and Secions of a Map have the same colors for same depth?

I'm afraid this is not possible, but it would be a useful addition.

Yesterday I tried to re-map my favorite lake with RM. The lake is about 80 km2. It is not possible to map this lake in one step, but if I use more than one step and create single maps as background pictures, the colors of depth areas do not match.

If I could set a fixed maximum depth at the range of the deepest point for the whole project, colors would harmonize for the whole project. In that case it also would be possible to make background pictures of small, important areas of this project to get an higher resolution with corresponding colors.

Hi,
At the moment this is not possible, but has been a regular request.
The release in January will address this - for example, all track point colours in the define map view will be based off the same depth range.
The big change is the move to vector isobaths, which will eliminate the need for a raster background in AT5 maps (although the option will remain for those you want it). Depth areas will be exported as polygons, which can be filled in specific colours for display in the finished map (AT5 or KML). The User Map will become (more or less) WYSIYWG for finished AT5 maps, with plenty of flexibility to colour depth ranges in whatever way you like (as well as some automatic palettes).

You just have to wait about another month :)

Nothing more to say ;)

Never the less there are some reasons to set a fixed depth range: creating a paper / print map of an area with smooth color transitions bigger than RM can handle in one piece ;)

That size should be doable in one step in the 64-bit version of RM - also coming up.

That's true Martin - in fact, 9km square should be doable with the current release? Depending on your system specs, of course.

Here's a couple of examples of AT5 maps generated using the new vector depth areas. We have also integrated the IMC within ReefMaster, so that these maps can be generated with once click from ReefMaster itself (it will no longer be necessary to run the IMC yourself, although the IMC will still need to be installed in your machine). The possibilities for map styles will be endless, and maps will be compatible with a wide range of units. The examples below are on a gen 1 HDS5.

Yep, it should. The 32-bit betaversion is also better than last release when it comes to large maps - even though it is packed with the vector areas and other stuff.

Edit: I misread. The latest release was somewhat hard on memory for me, but current betaversion is better again.

Hi,

My first post, after beeing a frequent viewer for a long time now.

I've managed to create some pretty nice AT5 maps with the current version of RM.

But this feature extension with WYSIWYG style and easy management of colours within RM, this will be THE feature for this program, truly unlocking the potential.

Is it still scheduled for release in January?

Thank you for a great software!

Kind regards,
Kristoffer

Hi Kristoffer,
It is in late beta now, with just documentation, cleaning up and some final testing to go. The estimated date for release is now the first week of February.
I hope it is worth the wait!

thanks,
Matt
