Hi,

I currently use reefmaster as my waypoint manager for my lowrance HDS. I like to categorize my various waypoints by changing the symbol. The problem is that only about 6 of the reefmaster symbols actually map to the lowrance symbols and I'm forced to use those. It would be great if you added different symbols sets so that I could get the full range of Lowrance symbols. Or perhaps a way to map reefmaster symbols to Lowrance symbols when exporting (Other than manually doing it via notepad etc).

Cheers,
Rowan.

Hi Rowan,
Sorry - missed this one earlier, somehow.
It would be nice to be able to offer a better mapping to Lowrance symbols. We can't just use Lowrance symbols, for copyright reasons, but we could work on adding a few extra to our set that would map well with Lowrance icons, or mapping some more of our existing set to Lowrance icons. Do you have any particular suggestions or requests?

Matt

Hi Matt,

I'm considering using RM to manage my waypoints. I run a Lowrance HDS and regularly use the following symbols:

drop off
hole
hump
long fish
rock
tree
heart
question mark

If you could come up with something suitable it would be great. I would like to settle on one waypoint manager, having used other programs with lots of frustration over the years I've been fishing.

Thanks,
Meggs

Matt, do you mean Per Pelin (Drdepth) was violating copyright law when using the Lowrance HDS iconset?

In my opinion, this is just what we need. Proper icons for each brand and series of units.

Danny - I have no idea what DrDepth's arrangement's were with Lowrance, they may well have secured permission so, just to be clear, I most certainly not making suggestions of that sort!
I think a nicer solution for us (at least from a UI point of view) would be to have icons in the RM style that mapped to equivalent icons from other manufacturers. We also want to keep RM compatible with as wide a range of units as possible.

Hi Meggs,
We do have a tree (a palm tree!), a fish and a group of rocks. The other's don't sound too hard so I'll see what we can do..

Maybe Gregory could help us out if it is allowed to use the Lowrance Iconset or not. But that was certainly a feature I liked a lot in Drdepth.
