Hi, is it possible to include the depth values when exporting to Humminbird unit format? you export the GPS values, you should include a checkbox to allow adding depth values.

We need those when using other tools to create map. share our lakes to our friends, etc..

thank you

The problem with trying to automate the export of soundings (depth values) is this

1. you have literally thousands of them, and they are all in lines, not neccessarily in the places you want them. Firstly you need to filter and select the soundings you want for every zoom level.
2. You need to select only the shallowest sounding from within a selection of grouped soundings, and set that to display at a specific zoom level, then you need to go into the next zoom and select additional soundings in meaningful positions (not on top of other soundings) that will only display at that zoom level. And so on in.....
Its not a simple matter of using declutter - you need to have the most useful sounding visible when you need it, so they need to be individually created and attributed.

Its not a trivial job, and you dont do it with interpolated soundings.

When I go under Track tab of ReefMaster, select all my tracks, right click "Write to file" and choose GPX export.

it export all location AND depth values into the XML file format into a huge file with all the thousands of them ~70K.

I don't undertand why it is complicated to extract the same value into an Humminbird track file.

when you travel on big lake, you getting ALOT of tracks logs and eventually wants to centralise smaller one into a bigger file for easy maintenance.

This may make it more self explanatory as to why you may have problems displaying soundings. From what I understand RM exports soundings in Humminbird format ? You titled your post "Exporting Usermap with depth values", here you are talking about exporting a track. This is not a usermap.

Yes but Matt Fender from the support says that If I wanted to export all my tracks grouped by the maximum allowed of the format I had to use user map and then export to HT file.

by doing so the depth is not exported and I ask to have as a new feature.

thank you

I think I understand what the OP wants to achieve, which is the merging of Humminbird tracks in their original format (with depth) into a smaller number of track files. This would mean more tracks could be stored on the unit at one time, and the tracks can then be used in Autochart. Not a problem technically - we do it with user map exports, except by that stage we have lost the depths. The way we would probably implement this is via a group export of original tracks (i.e. not via a user map), so you could right-click a set of tracks in the asset list and export to .HT format, and then, instead of a separate HT file per track, tracks would be stuffed into as few HT files as possible (up to the limit of ~21k points per file).

Yes Matt you got it !!

The hole thing about creating MAPS is to handle those tracks logs with a minimum of maintenance. Especially when you plan to create many lake maps and some require many travels to complete them. So by having a grouping feature, this will allow us to do cleaner by maximizing each file full capacity.

thank you!
