A new version of ReefMaster is available. ReefMaster can be updated by clicking the Check for updates button on the ReefMaster start-up window and following the prompts.

Bug fixes
  • Fixed crash in sonar viewer when editing track-point depths.
  • Fixed crash in project view when maximum and minimum bottom composition ranges are the same.
  • Fixed issue with importing Unicode Lowrance USR version 3 files.

Features
  • Atlas version can now be selected (either 10 or 12) during AT5 export. 12 is the default, which is a change from version 10 that was always used when exporting AT5 maps in the past. If you are running an older unit (pre-HDS or non-HDI Elite) then you must select Atlas 10 during export.
  • Depth Highlight Layer. The depth highlight layer is a new feature made possible by the release of IMC v7.4.0. The depth highlight layer is allows depth ranges to be highlighted in AT5 maps, using chart category settings, which can be adjusted whilst on the water. For more information, look at the updated documentation here under Vector Export Options. Depth highlight layers only work for vector maps (not raster), and requires IMC v7.4.0.

That depth highlight option seems to be a really cool and handy option Matt.
But how does this work on the Elite 7 HDI for instance since this unit doesn`t have a map categories option?

Unfortunately there is no way to provide on-the-water-configurable depth areas for units without chart categories. You can of course create individual maps with highlighted depth areas by simple changing isobath colours in a user map, but you'd be stuck with that whilst you were using the map. Not necessarily a problem, if you have an idea of what depth you want to highlight before you go fishing, as it only takes a minute or two to create a custom map.

Can the depth new highlight be used, along with the "old highlight" system, i use reefmaster to focus the palette on depth from 0-18 meter(anything deeper is just the deepest color), but it would be awesome if i could highlight a specific depth eg. 3-6 meter also, while on the water.

In theory, you can use the depth highlight layer anywhere that you have isobaths (depth polygons).
The depth highlight layer works by simply creating another copy of all depth areas in a single colour, located underneath the existing depth areas. The reasoning behind this is that chart categories cannot be disabled by default when creating an AT5 map, so placing the highlights behind the map means that the map is shown in the normal state by default. To highlight a depth range, the depth area category for the required range is deselected. This lets the highlight "shine through". Although this set up works very well for standard vector maps, where isobaths cover the entire water body, there is one obvious limitation: The depth highlight layer doesn't work well with transparent isobaths. In this case, the depth highlight layer would be visible through the transparent isobaths by default. You can get around this by deselecting the entire depth highlight category, and re-enabling only the levels that you want, but it is a bit more work to do on the water.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the bugfix of the Sonar viewer editing.
I have been away from this whole mapping thing some time now, but found out about this update when I got home. Perfect.

The beautiful thing is that not only did you fix the crash issue, the entire editing now flows so much more smoothly. It's like a serious power boost for the enire editing part. No more waiting after each edit.

Many thanks
//Mats
