Here it is running in Homeport, which is how it would appear on a Garmin marine unit.

"I am sorry but unfortunately the Bluechart and LakeVu maps are not compatible with the Rino 610. The lake map software that is compatible with this device would be the US Inland Lakes DVD."
can u get me set in the right direction....software i would need format etc ??

the file uploaded with mapsettoolkit just fine but file u sent seems to display incorrectly as yellow polygon...but not sure if i got he setting correct when i uploaded to gps with mapset toolkit software

I havent yet done a tutorial for creating lake charts for non-marine units. One of the reasons being that the are all very different, even amongst the same family (Nuvi for example). A good place to start would be the cgpsmapper manual which has everything you actually need in it. Its not a question of format. The terrestrial devices have an entirely different feature set programmed into them, so you need to work out which ones to use to be able to show what you want. I'll have a play with it when I have time. Meanwhile I'd recommend a marine unit for use on the water ideally.

all the best

Trevor, thanks for the "how to" you made. I`m running GPSMapEdit 2.1 and it seems the menus are a bit different then in the 2.0 version you used for your tutorial. Do you stil run 2.0 or have you tried 2.1?

The reason I`m asking is that Ì can`t seem to find the "convert to polyline" in pic 18 anywhere in 2.1. Please help if you can. :)

I can`t find this option:

Highlight the polygon, rightclick - modify - kind - convert to polyline.

Hi.

I am hoping for some help with my problem.
I have a Garmin gpsmap 721sx and i recorded with my sonar and then i put the memory card in my pc to extract the files.

The file came out as Sonar000.RSD and i can't seem to find how to change that to anything else than RSD.
I also tried to import the track files to homeport and then export it as gpx (i think) but when i look at the file (.gpx) it has no depth info only coordinates.

Did i miss a step or does my sonar not support exporting the info ?

/Zanders

That's the problem with RSD files. NOTHING supports them other than Garmin Homeport. You can load them into Homeport and export the GPX (I think....). The Garmin Homeport sonar viewer is just about the most pointless bit of software I've ever come across - it even makes the Lowrance sonar viewer look terrific!

Trevor - I'm not sure but i think that Homeport only can load an ADM file and then export depth data. Or do i anything wrong?

Alternativ is the program AVGPS possible, but it cannot read all ADM-files.

I believe, that Homeport not can read RSD files itself.

For generation from an ADM file the use should read the manual (data backup).

Homeport can read RSD files, and display them in a sonar viewer. I assume that there are depths in there, but I do not know for sure. As far as I am aware, converting ADM files in Homeport is the way to get GPX files that can be loaded into ReefMaster. I don't know if it is possible to get there from an RSD sonar log file, but it would be good to find out.

I can see depth info in Homeport but when i export everything to GPX the depth info doesn't get exported.
Apparently this is a Homeport limitation and is not supported.

However i also found your post on how to choose ADM instead of RSD on manual page 31.
I can not do that on my gpsmap 721sx for some reason...

Only way for me to seem to get the depth info when exporting is IF Garmin starts to support it in homeport...

Funny!!
